HAPPENINGS - UX/UI RESEARCH & DESIGN
As a UX Designer I successfully tackled the challenge of allowing students to easily access personal, campus, and event information from a single platform while integrating creative engagements. Here's a summary of my approach and accomplishments:
Objective
• Conducted competitive analysis of common campus, wayfinding, map, and creative applications to identify areas of improvement.
• Identified user needs and pain points through interviews, surveys, and research.
• Crafted visually appealing graphic, image, and text copy based on the Design System.
• Designed a mid-fidelity clickable prototype for usability testing.
Problem Statement
How might we allow students to easily access personal, campus, and event information from the same platform while integrating creative engagements?
Process
• Conducted in-depth research through interviews and surveys with current and former students.
• Utilized mind maps and affinity maps to analyze research findings.
• Developed user personas, journey mapping, user scenarios, and wire flows.
• Created wireframes and design elements, including graphics.
• Built a prototype for testing and incorporated feedback through iteration.
Tools
Whimsical, Figma, and Miro to facilitate the design process.
Results
• Successfully created a testable prototype that allows students to intuitively navigate personal and campus information.
• Recognized the importance of respecting users' privacy and personal-digital space, leading to the suggestion of customizable and personalized information architecture.
Through this project, I demonstrated my expertise in research, design thinking, prototyping, and user-centered design methodologies. The resulting prototype addressed the problem statement and showcased a user-friendly solution that respects and meets the needs of the community.
